The Stories Women Tell

Social Action Campaign: Build awareness around the challenges stemming from
gender inequality that afflict women around the world and build a constituency
    advocating for change and solutions

Clients and Partners: Linda Harrar Productions and the David and Lucile Packard
    Foundation

Linda Harrar Productions is headed by Linda Harrar, an independent executive
producer, director and writer specializing in documentaries on global health, human
rights and the environment.  Through collaborations with several leading
professionals and experts, Linda Harrar Productions is now developing a
documentary entitled The Stories Women Tell, a feature length film which will share
the stories and challenges of women around the world with a focus on the effects of
gender inequality: the limitation on female access to health, education and economic
    opportunities.

The Stories Women Tell, which will be distributed through both commercial and
educational outlets, strives to illuminate the world’s progress in achieving targeted
improvements in women’s health, human rights and gender equity.  Currently in pre-
production, this film will showcase a dozen “story vignettes,” each directed by a
different female director, that share distinct perspectives and issues such as child
marriage, sexual violence, human rights, teen pregnancy and HIV/AIDS.  Together,
these pieces will share a cohesive narrative on the life-threatening situations that are
recurring in the developing world, and the necessity for policy change to rectify these
injustices.  Cause & Affect delivered the strategic plan for a social action campaign in
July 2009 to be launched in parallel with the release of the documentary.
